Overview
Apps are the best way to expand the functionality of your Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses. There are so many apps available which connect via the Meta AI app on your phone. When the connection is established, you’ll be able to use Meta AI on your glasses to access the app’s features.
Here’s our favourite apps for the Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses.
Be My Eyes
This handy app for users who are blind or have low vision connects you hands-free to a sighted volunteer. They see through your glasses camera and describe what’s in front of you. You can also call trusted friends/family groups and company service desks like Sony or Clearblue hands-free.
Be My Eyes is free, available 24/7 and works for tasks like reading mail, finding products or setting appliances.
To activate Be My Eyes simply say “Hey Meta, Call a Volunteer on Be My Eyes” and you’ll be connected.
Note: Be My Eyes AI doesn’t work with glasses yet, only volunteer calls. Some AU services like Telstra/Apple don’t support video via Be My Eyes yet.
Aira
Call a professional visual interpreter hands-free with Aira. You can talk to trained agents who will assist you with complex tasks like reading legal docs, medical forms or navigation. Aira is a subscription service, but there is free guest access in some cases.
Meta AI assistant (required app)
The Meta AI app powers all voice prompts on your Meta Glasses. It allows you to use voice commands like “Hey Meta, describe my surroundings”, “read this text”, “what’s in front of me”. The Meta AI voice prompts are built into glasses, but you will need to download the Meta AI app on your phone to connect your glasses.
WhatsApp
WhatsApp allows you to make calls, send voice messages, read messages hands-free via glasses. Simply download it onto your phone and connect your Meta Account to get started.
Messenger
Similarly with WhatsApp, Messenger is an alternative app for messaging or calling your friends and family.
Google Maps - via phone audio
Access turn-by-turn directions through your AI glasses. Meta AI utilises Google Maps to guide you to your destination and find points of interest around your location. All audio directions play through the open-ear speakers, keeping your hands free for your cane or dog guide.
Transit apps (PTV, TripView, Transport for NSW)
Like with Google Maps, Meta AI also uses data from your local public transport apps like PTV, TripView or Transport for NSW. With this connection you’ll receive real-time updates read through your glasses. You can also combine this data with the prompt “Hey Meta, read this” and your AI glasses will read bus stop signs and timetables.
Supermarket apps (Coles, Woolworths)
Make shopping easier by connecting your Meta Glasses to your favourite supermarket’s app. With this connection you can use the glasses and Meta AI to read labels, find aisles and confirm products. Plus, by combining it with Be My Eyes, you’ll have access to volunteers who can help you locate items.
Currency Identifier
Use Meta AI to identify currencies in front of you. Simply ask “Hey Meta, what note is this?” and Meta AI will identify the note and read it out to you.
Spotify
Stream your music or podcasts hands-free through Spotify, the largest music streaming platform in the world. You can use Meta AI to find and play any of your favourite tracks, artists, playlists or podcasts right through the built-in speakers on your glasses. Simply connect your Spotify account and you’re set.
Lookout by Google and Envision AI
Lookout and Envision AI use the Meta glasses to capture your environment, then provide OCR or scene descriptions. This app and the AI glasses is a common combo workflow recommended by Therapists.
