Vision Australia Library are thrilled announce our final guest for 2026; award-winning author, poet, and oral storyteller, Dr Kate Forsyth.
Kate has written more than fifty books, including historical fiction, fantasy, fairy-tale retellings, poetry and children’s literature. Kate grew up on tales of Scottish history and folklore told by her grandmother and great-aunts. Her fascination with fairies and folklore led to her Doctorate of Creative Arts in fairy tale studies.
We will commence our conversation with an exploration of Kate’s lifelong love of writing, having written her first novel at the age of seven! In addition to Kate’s writing, we are intrigued by her accreditation as a master storyteller and are keen to discover what this entails.
The focus of our event will be Kate’s reading of her chosen passage from her latest novel, The Changeling. Kate will spoil us with a live twenty-minute reading from this tale of a young woman with faery blood, who must defy two queens to survive love, magic and treachery.
To conclude our event, Sarah Bloedorn will host a Q& A with Kate, sharing all the questions posed by our library members.
