Each year, millions of children across the country come together in libraries, schools, early learning centres, bookshops and family homes, for National Simultaneous Storytime. Everyone gathering to read the same book, on the same day, creating a sense of community from a shared love of reading.
This year, the chosen book was ‘Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller’, an underdog story about believing in yourself despite the odds.
The Vision Australia community shared a unique online Storytime, enhanced with audio descriptions of the wonderful illustrations of Australian animals competing and cheering for the Animal World Cup. This was a fully accessible event for blind and low vision children.
You can even create your own tactile book to read while listening to our recording of ‘Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller’, using household items easily sourced at home.
