Whether you are new to Vision Australia or an existing client, telehealth is a safe and easy way for you to receive the services you want.
Telehealth uses technology to conduct your appointments with a Vision Australia service provider. You can choose a combination of face to face appointments and telehealth to help you achieve your goals.
All of my appointments have been via telehealth – occupational therapy, counselling and mobility. Why choose telehealth as part of your service delivery?
Telehealth is a great way for you to start receiving or continue to the receive services you want. The benefits of telehealth include:
- Easy and convenient access to services in your own home, so there is no need for you to travel
- Safe for you and the Vision Australia service provider
- You can invite your family or friends to be involved in a session, as multiple people can be connected at one time in different locations
- Lower costs. If you have a NDIS plan, your funding is used for the service only, there are no travel costs.
What technology do I need?
A telehealth session may use one or more forms of technology during an appointment. This may include:
- Video conferencing via Zoom platform
- Telephone based appointments
- Use of email/SMS
- Combination of the above

Zoom is the platform that Vision Australia uses for video conferencing.
It is an accessible system that allows a confidential video conferencing call to be held with you and other people you may want to join the session.

Will I be charged for telehealth services?
Telehealth services will attract a fee, just like face to face services. The fees vary depending on what funding you have. Speak to us to find out more.
