Event Description
International White Cane Day is one of the biggest days on our community calendar. We're marking it with a return of our group walk from Southern Cross Station to Southbank. This will be followed by a BBQ and celebration at Vision Australia Kooyong.
The walk
Meet at Travellers Aid, Southern Cross Station, 10am. From there we'll tram down Spencer Street to Crown Casino and walk together along Southbank, before catching the train from Flinders Street back to Kooyong.
BBQ lunch and giveaway!
We’ll have lunch from midday, an Orientation and Mobility quiz and short talks on Seeing Eye Dogs, Meta Glasses and SensAble cane tips. Everyone who registers for this event goes into the draw to win one of two pairs of Meta Glasses or a SensAble cane tip.
Stay on afterwards to chat with presenters and the Vision Australia team.
What to bring
All participants will need to bring a method to pay for the Train (Myki or debit card), a bottle of water and their preferred mobility aid. Friends, family and support workers are all welcome and encouraged to attend!
Plus, if you happen to have an antique long folding cane or mobility aid in your collection, bring it along – it might even score you a bonus trivia point!
