The Vision Australia Library warmly welcome Margaret Hickey to our first Author Reading for 2026. Our upcoming Author Reading will focus on Margaret’s newly released crime mystery, Cold River.

We will commence with an introduction to Margaret, providing an insight into her background and the journey that led to her becoming an award-winning author and playwright, with a macabre talent for writing crime novels!

Margaret will then choose a passage from her latest novel, Cold River, and treat us to a live reading for twenty minutes.

Our library members will have the opportunity to post questions via the zoom chat, which will contribute to a lively Q&A to conclude our event.

About Cold River

Margaret is the award-winning author of six crime novels and a collection of captivating short stories called Rural Dreams. Her latest novel, Cold River, is due for release on 28th July.

Set in Victoria’s High Country, Cold River centres on the disappearance of an aspiring journalist, last seen researching the illegal tobacco trade in the area. With the secret of this lost hiker hidden deep in the mountains, a tragic accident appears to be the only explanation. Until the investigating Constable Sally White discovers an eerily similar disappearance of a young lawyer, who vanished in the mountains two years earlier.

Margaret Hickey’s fans will be familiar with Sally White, having encountered the Detective Constable in The Creeper. It is a delight to reunite with this character, three years after the release of The Creeper.
