Younger Adult Social Monthly

  • When: first Monday of the month, 7:30pm.
  • About: an open discussion group where members can come to socialise. We discuss ideas, issues and try and problem solve together.
  • Eligibility requirements: must be 45 or younger to join this group. The program is delivered through video conference, clients will need a suitable device and connection to the internet.
  • Suitable for: ages 18 to 45.

  • When: third Monday of the month, 7:30pm.
  • About: we are a group that meets to talk about books we have read from the Vision Australia library.

Diabetes Support and Information

When: last Monday of the month, 8:00pm

About: we are a social group for people who have type 1 and 2 diabetes who share information and support each other. Periodically we have guest speakers like a Diabetes educator.

Eligibility requirements: people who have type 1 and 2 diabetes.

Suitable for: all ages.

 

Dog Guide Support Monthly

7 Feb – 5 Dec

  • When: first Monday of the month, 8:00pm.
  • About: we are an informal, social group to support dog guide users. We exchange advice and suggestions with each other, and we are a safe place to discuss any issues related to dog guide handling.
  • Eligibility requirements: must be a dog guide handler or be interested in applying for a dog guide in the near future.
  • Suitable for: all ages.

  • When: every Tuesday, 9:00am.
  • About: we are a group for people who are interested in learning about history. Each week, the group will agree on a particular topic of interest and the facilitator will either provide a lecture or carry out research and simply act as an information source on the topic.

This is a friendly group where we like to share our knowledge of what’s happening in the braille world. Please note, this is not a group for learning braille.
  • Eligibility requirements: participants must be able to read and/or have a knowledge of braille.

  • About: we are a group who meets to talk about sport. We discuss all kinds of sport, but we do have a strong focus on AFL. We also run a footy tipping competition during the AFL season.
  • Eligibility requirements: an interest in talking about sport, particularly AFL.
  • Suitable for: all ages.

  • About: a general social group where we chat about everything and anything. We like to have a laugh and a friendly chat

Parenting Support Monthly

  • When: 3rd Friday, 1,45pm.
  • About: we are a support group for parents where we swap stories, discuss tips and tricks and discuss all things related to parenting
  • Eligibility requirements: at least one parent who is blind and who has low vision
  • Suitable for: all ages.

  • About: we are a Christian faith based group where participants select different topics to discuss throughout the sessions.
  • Eligibility requirements: must believe in the Christian faith.
