Why it works:
- Our team of occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and physiotherapists work together to help children who are blind or have low vision build everyday skills in fun, practical ways.
- Occupational therapists focus on independence and daily living skills through hands-on activities.
- Speech pathologists build communication and confidence, helping children connect with others.
- Physiotherapists support strength, movement, and body awareness so kids can move through the world with greater independence.
- These activities build functional skills that fit directly within NDIS Capacity Building goals.
- They also align with key areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum, including independent living, social interaction, recreation and leisure, orientation and mobility, sensory efficiency, and career education.
- Mentors provide an extra layer of support, modelling possible futures for children, young people and their parents, and providing concrete tips, examples and options to consider and trial.
- A team of over 20 allied health professionals, mentors with lived experience, and community partners are joining forces to deliver the day to eight families, maximising outcomes.
- Families leave with practical strategies, new ideas, and the confidence to keep building skills at home, at school, and in the community.
