Vision Australia has today announced Woolworths as its new Carols by Candlelight presenting partner for 2015.

Vision Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Ron Hooton, said he is thrilled to have the ‘the fresh food people’ on board.

"Woolworths has been providing the Australian people with groceries since the 1920s, it’s iconic within the community just like Carols by Candlelight. I see this as a fantastic partnership and we look forward to bringing this event into homes across the country on Christmas Eve, together,” he said.

In its 78th year, Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight is an Australian Christmas tradition with an amazing history of helping children who are blind or have low vision.

Woolworths Head of Sponsorship, Events and Properties, Karen Madden, said  “We are delighted to partner with Vision Australia and this iconic event. Carols by Candlelight is one of Australia’s longest-running fundraising events,

“Millions of Australians enjoy the event each year on Christmas Eve and it raises much-needed funding for support services for children who are blind or have low vision. We are looking forward to being part of an event that brings so much Christmas joy each year,” she said.

This year Vision Australia and Woolworths will be asking all Australians to Be The Light for children who are blind or have low vision by buying tickets to the event, by making a donation, downloading the app and watching the show live on Channel Nine.

Proceeds from the event goes towards Vision Australia’s Children’s Services, which helps children who are blind or have low vision at each life stage from birth, to first steps, to starting school, finding a first after-school job, to reaching adulthood and beyond.
