By-elections will be held in the New South Wales state government seats of Canterbury, Woollongong and Orange on November 12 2016.

iVote makes voting in elections accessible for the blind and low vision community by allowing you to vote online or over the phone. 

What is the iVote® system?

The iVote® system is a form of voting using a telephone or the internet at a location of your choice.

How do I register for the iVote® system?Register on the internet at ivote.nsw.gov.au or telephone 1300 2 iVote (1300 24 86 83) or +61 2 9290 5287 (outside Australia).
  • You must be on the electoral roll
  • You will need to make a declaration that you are eligible to use the iVote® system
  • You will need to provide a Personal Identification Number (PIN) of 6 digits
  • Your iVote® number will then be sent to you by your nominated method e.g. SMS text
When can I use the iVote® system?
  • You can register from 10am (EDST) Tuesday 25 October 2016 until 1pm (EDST) Saturday 12 November 2016
  • You can vote from 8am (EDST) Monday 31 October until 6pm (EDST) Saturday 12 November 2016
  • NOTE: Operator-assisted registration and voting: 9am - 5pm (weekdays only) Election Day 8am - 6pm
How do I vote using the iVote® system?
  • Sign in using your PIN and iVote® number at ivote.nsw.gov.au or 1300 2 iVote (1300 24 86 83)
  • Instructions for voting are provided
  • Ballot papers are shown on screen (or read to you if you’re using a phone)
  • You choose candidates by using a mouse, keyboard or telephone key pad
  • You can check, edit and confirm your choices before your vote is submitted
  • You can save the voting session, leave and return later to finish
  • Submit your vote when complete
  • A receipt number will be issued once you have voted
