The Governor-General and Chancellor of the Order of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), has approved awards announced today in The Queen’s Birthday 2015 Honours List.

“To all recipients, I offer my warmest congratulations and express my sincere gratitude for your contribution to our nation,” the Governor-General said.

The Queen’s Birthday 2015 Honours List recognises a diverse range of contributions and service across all fields, including professional endeavours, community service, Defence and Emergency Services personnel, and acts of bravery.

Vision Australia heartily congratulates the following awardees and thanks them for their work in supporting our vision of a full and inclusive society for Australians living with blindness and low vision.

AC - Companion of the Order of Australia, for eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree in service to Australia or to humanity at large.

Nathan Efron
For eminent service to medicine in the field of clinical optometry, particularly to vision correction and corneal physiology, as an academic, researcher and author, to the treatment of juvenile diabetes, and through executive roles with national and international professional organisations.

AM - Member of the Order of Australia, for service in a particular locality or field of activity, or to a particular group.

Ms Carla Lee Anderson
For significant service to people who are deafblind, through advocacy, support and service delivery roles, and to interpreter training.

OAM - Medal of the Order of Australia, for service worthy of particular recognition.

Mrs Beryl Fay Bracken
For service to the community of Coffs Harbour, and to sport. Ms Bracken is the Bowls Organiser for the Mid North Coast Vision Impaired and Blind Bowlers Association.

Mrs Nola Marcella Dooley
For service to the community of Gresford. A range of executive roles including President, Vice President and Secretary, Maitland Black and White Committee (raises funds for Vision Australia), 45 years.

Mr John Gregory Foreman
For service to the performing arts, particularly as a musical event director and musician. Musical Director, Carols by Candlelight, Vision Australia, since 2003.
