Today is World Radio Day, and Vision Australia is showcasing some of ways in which radio makes information accessible for people who are blind or have low vision.
This year, Vision Australia Radio is proud to be a media partner for the 2020 Perth Festival.
"We are very pleased to be a supporting partner to this year’s festival," Vision Australia national audio business development consultant Jason Gipps said.
"Vision Australia Radio’s focus has been on promoting the large range of accessible events and spaces, interviewing festival organisers on our radio programs and Vision Australia has provided advice to the organisers in how to best support the needs of the blind community and those who have low vision."
More than 250 events across theatre, music, dance, opera, film, visual arts and literature and ideas – many of them free – are on offer at this year’s Perth Festival, on now until March 1.
Below are a few podcasts from the Vision Australia Radio team following the goings-on at the Perth Festival:
Over the last 18 months Vision Australia Radio has got behind a range of diverse and inclusive events including the Melbourne Writers Festival, Kyd X Disability Expo Adelaide, The Australian Open (Tennis), Australian Podcasting Awards in Sydney and the Disability Sports & Recreation Festival in Melbourne.
Vision Australia Radio will also be a media partner of the long running Williamstown Literary Festival (aka the Willy Lit Fest) in June, this year.
