Life took an unexpected turn when Kenny lost his vision in his twenties but this wasn’t going to stop him from forging ahead to have an exceptional career.
After leaving India to start a new life in Australia, the Microsoft Cloud Solutions Architect knew he’d have to stand out from the crowd to be considered as an equal among his sighted peers.
“I had to be extraordinary at whatever I chose to do. I always put in 150% into my work because I had too much to lose,” says Kenny.
With more than six years with Microsoft, Kenny has worked in the company’s top tier consulting group, planning, developing and implementing organisational-wide digital transformation technology programs for some of the most recognised international brands.
As someone with low vision, Kenny’s successful career is rare. The majority of people who are blind or have low vision, and all people with disability, encounter huge misconceptions and barriers in workplaces including employers having low expectations and workplaces being inaccessible.
“I realised that I wanted to get into the employment sector and change the attitudes of how people with a disability are viewed as employees,” says Kenny.
