Vision Australia Radio Bendigo 88.7 FM

It's the early hours of the morning when most of us are still turning over for another few hours sleep, when our dedicated "eye opener" radio volunteers head into the Bendigo 88.7FM Vision Australia Radio studio to prepare the first local program of the day.
5.30am or maybe even earlier for some, is the time our volunteers arrive to prepare the Bendigo Advertiser program ready to go live to air between 6.30am - 7.30am Monday through to Saturday.

Given it's such an early start, this is the shift we have trouble finding volunteers to fill and we are always on the lookout for anyone interested in reading and learning the technical operators role for the eye opener programs.

Our next shift of Presenter, Reader and Technical Operator arrive around 12noon to pre read and time the articles they have selected from the Bendigo Advertiser, all in preparation to read for their 1.00pm - 2.00pm program.

On a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we have our next team arrive at 2.00pm to go live to air between 3.00pm and 4.00pm. Monday, Tuesday and Friday our team of volunteers read from our Regional papers and on a Thursday read articles from the Weekly Times.

Enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers conduct interviews with local people from community groups. After City of Greater Bendigo Council Meetings a regular Mayoral interview occurs and Vision Australia staff members speak on their specialised area. This is only the tip of the iceberg on subjects covered. These interviews are played during our Around the Region Programs at 3.20pm.

The professional Bendigo Vision Australia Radio Team comprises of approximately 40 volunteers who bring passion and dedication to the air waves.

We would like to say thank you to this team of volunteers - some who have been with the radio station since its beginning more than10 years ago.

Pictured is our Bendigo Advertiser Thursday 1.00pm team of Terry, John and Tony who not only enjoy bringing the local news to listeners of 88.7FM but also have fun along the way.
