A new vision assessment service at Vision Australia’s Kooyong office aims to keep clients informed about their eye health.

Optometrist An Hoang Truong is available every Friday for the vision assessment service.

This service, which is bulk billed through Medicare, is designed to give clients information and monitoring of their eye health. In addition, Vision Australia can also assess clients’ needs in a number of areas, including:

  • Orthoptics for magnification aids
  • Occupational Therapy for daily living assistance
  • Orientation and Mobility training to assess the risk of falls and encourage safe movement, and
  • Group programs such as Quality Living and the Kooyong Recreation Program

“This service is not intended for the treatment of existing eye disease, but it is a check-up on eye health that is aimed at managing potential new problems early and setting up interventions and assistance where they’re needed”, explains Kooyong-based regional manager Deb Deshayes.

With seven years’ experience as an Optometrist, Orthoptist, Optical Dispenser and Low Vision Rehabilitation Consultant, An has a special interest in the treatment of dry eye conditions and the qualifications to prescribe eye drops.

“I strongly believe in community focus.” An says. “I am passionate about working within a low vision eye clinic that puts patients’ needs first, improves their eye conditions and disease health care outcomes and enriches the quality of life for patients of all ages, demographics and socio-economic backgrounds.”

The vision assessments are available at the Wicking Centre, 454 Glenferrie Road, Kooyong, from 9am to 5pm on Fridays. Bookings are essential.
