Dozens of people who are blind or have low vision have headed to the slopes this season taking advantage of a new scheme offering discounts and free lift tickets at Mt Baw Baw.

Vision Australia and the Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort have been working together all season to ensure the provision of a range of free and discounted benefits for people who are blind or have low vision are available not just during winter, but all year around.

Since the beginning of the season, 32 people have taken up this offer staying for a total of 49 nights.

"This is an excellent take-up rate and we were thrilled with the number of people making the most of these offers," said Leona Turra, CEO of Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort.

Visitors took advantage of discounted accommodation and tuition as well as free lift tickets and passes. In addition, 48 staff working at the Resort, including ski instructors, lift operators and hospitality staff were given orientation and mobility training.

Ski season may have officially wrapped up but the slopes are still beckoning for those keen to get away and enjoy some cool mountain air.
