Find a book
The library has a wide range of materials available in alternate formats including braille and audio books, magazines and newspapers.
You can find our material in a number of ways.
On this page:
Let us select books for you
This is our most popular service, as books are sent to you as you need them. When you join the Library you will be asked what genres you like to read and what your interests are.
The Library will then set up a profile for you that will automatically generate book titles to be sent to you based on what you have told us.
Select books using Visway
Visway is the name of Vision Australia's online library catalogue. You can reserve titles, request items for later or check to see what is already on loan.
Anyone may search Visway, but to request or reserve any of the library's titles you will need to be registered for the service.
Select resources using i-access® Online
i-access ® Online gives library members the opportunity to download a variety of audio and text DAISY books, newspapers, magazines and podcasts, as well as braille books and braille music, directly to their desktops via the internet, 24 hours a day.
To register phone 1800 00 59 65 or email i-access.online@visionaustralia.org.
Select books using the phone
Libtel provides access to Vision Australia's library catalogue via the telephone.
Library members who live within the Sydney and Melbourne metropolitan areas can select books via the telephone catalogue at any time, 24 hours, seven days a week, for the cost of a local call.
The Libtel catalogue can be searched by subject, author name or by a title. Libtel also allows members to check request list for titles, to see how many books are on their list or to remove a book from their request list.
Trial the Libtel service
To encourage confident use of the service a test phone line is available. This incorporates a tutorial and gives immediate access to Libtel, allowing members to do everything except actually order a book.
Phone menus guide members through the process of searching the library catalogue. Along each step in the process there are prompts for what to do next and at any time pressing zero returns users to a help menu.
Library members are encouraged to trial the service before becoming registered Libtel users.
All calls charged at regular carrier rates.
