Vision Australia's Dickinson Literary Award

The 2009 competition for adult and young adult writers who are blind or have low vision closed on December 31. Many thanks to everyone who entered.

Our judging panel will begin reviewing the submitted work in February, with winners to be announced by April 2010. Awards will be given for fiction and non-fiction pieces from adults, young adults (under 25) and youth (under 16).

Extended deadline

As it's school holiday time, we've extended the deadlines for writers in the Youth Fiction and Youth Non-fiction categories until 1 February.

Children aged up to 16 who are blind or have low vision and have time on their hands over summer are invited to take to the keyboard or brailler for the chance to win $500 to spend on products from Vision Australia's Equipment Solutions range.

How to enter

All entries must be accompanied by an application form. Written, brailled or electronic entries should be submitted on disk and mailed in.
